Patrick, Stephanie & Shaniqa – Portraits

Portraits

A couple of months back, I had the pleasure of meeting the Ratnasingam’s for their family portrait session. It was to celebrate Patrick and Stephanie’s 10th wedding anniversary and coincided with Shaniqa’s 8th birthday.

Stephanie decided to have the shoot at Bijou in Mont Kiara and I must say, I loved the decor! With the white walls and colorful cushions, the paintings on the walls and knick knacks on the sides – it made for a sweet location to have the Ratnasingam’s portraits done :D

On a side note, I went to Bijou a couple of weeks after the shoot and had dinner with some friends there. The food is good! Didn’t manage to try out the desserts cos they ran out :( but Stephanie said that they’re awesome. So I’ll leave the desserts for another day ;)

Stephanie, what you said about wanting to do this as a gift to Shaniqa resonates with me and I hope she’ll be able to look back on this in years to come and have a smile on her face thinking back on how fun it was :D And thank you so much for being sooo supportive, I really appreciate it!

Patrick, Stephanie and Shaniqa – thank you for being so accommodating and such great ‘models’ on that day. I loved the fact that you were all so at ease and unabashed about being photographed. Here are some of my favourite shots from the day.

Have an awesome weekend ahead!

Custom-made cupcakes! I like!

    Because of you and your camera, Anna, I’m now looking for the next excuse to call you for another photo shoot! What an experience that was, and a really wonderful addition to our memory bank! Thanks so much, Anna! :-)

I’m Seventeen

Fitness, Personal

Disclaimer: ANOTHER shameless, self-promo not related to photography post. Proceed with caution. Or go to some other site instead :p

*starts singing along to Kings of Leon’s Seventeen* Oh she’s only seventeeeeennnn…

Okay, so I’m not exactly 17 anymore. More like plus 12 to 17 o.0

I was recently interviewed by Inayah of Seventeen magazine for their fitness issue. Thanks for featuring me in the mag, Inayah :D Do hope to see you and the rest of the 17 team at Pushmore soon!

Without further ado…

Cover for the March 2009 edition of Malaysia’s Seventeen magazine.

The page that I’m on. It’s part of an article on, I quote “..fun, fearless female..challenge themselves…push their bodies to the limit..”. The other two featured are Chee Ee Laine, a copy editor who plays ice hockey and Fiona Shirai Wong, a student who does muay thai kickboxing. I didn’t get to meet them though =(
Our shoot was done in different sessions. Pictures were shot by Soo Phye, who’s one of BluInc’s inhouse photographers.

While reading the article, I cringed inwards and tried to recall why in the world did I say “impressive time” for my 100 pull ups for time? My current timing is not even sub 10mins *shy* And the boastful line about my “ripped physique…biceps” – OMG!! Shameless dot com dot my!! I’m so gonna get banged by fellow Pushmormons if they ever see this :p

Close up of the write-up

On a side note, lest everyone thinks I’m the only female regular at Pushmore, you’re wrong! :p There’s slightly more female members now as compared to when it first opened last year and they’ve also got 3 female trainers there namely Lynn, Pey and Danesh. Woot!

Back in the days when I used to lift weights at Sweat Club (and thereafter Celebrity Fitness) it got boring sometimes as the free weights area was always dominated with testosterone. Now at Pushmore, I have fellow female fitness freaks (FFFF :p) who don’t view me as a sado masochist ;p Yay! And I love the camaraderie amongst the members, there’s constant support and motivation (not to mention endless tokkok sessions as can be seen in the chatbox on the Pushmore blog :p).

Here’s a snapshot from a couple of months back :D Some of the ladies whom I workout with at Pushmore! L – R: Lynn and Pey are trainers at Pushmore and Karen is a regular Crossfitter and awesome cheerleader ;) Woot!

Yes yes. We were mucking around after a morning workout. Hehe…

Okay, that wraps up this edition of Anna’s shameless self-promo post. Thanks for putting up with my vanity ;p

  1. junkie says:

    ever since i read ur blog, i’ve been hitting the gym. there’s no crossfit at my place. so yeah, wanna get the ‘IT’ body. u’re a great inspiration to ladies out there (well, to me at least). btw, loving ur biceps. definitely not manly!

  2. Anna-Rina says:

    Great to hear that you’re inspired *shy* ;p & thanks for your kind words! Happy working out :D

  3. JOhn-Son says:

    Aiyer ANNA ANNA,, shame shame. your right about “if we found out about this we will give you shit” … AHHA better watch out soon !

  4. Anna-Rina says:

    John-Son: Shaddup!!! :p

  5. Cleo says:

    wow! Stumble upon your web when I was looking for someone. Your biceps are REALLY nice! and those abs on your body is real nice too.(saw it somewhere around your page) Dreaming of a body like yours and I do agree with you on the weight parts that all ‘testosterone’ dominate the weight area. It’s happening to me too *arrgh* Except if you’re talking bout light weights,some women will go there.

    I’m still building and working on doing full pushups.No girly ones.I envy you!

    I’m sure guys will look your way because of your biceps ;) That’ll prove to guys that girls can be BIG and STRONG too. Btw, you’re really cool.

    Gonna bookmark your page and get inspiration from you.

  6. Anna-Rina says:

    Cleo: Thanks for your kind words :D Really appreciate it. Great to hear from fellow female fitness enthusiasts as well :D All the best with your workout regime!

A Note to The Man of My Life

Personal

I just got off the phone with Dad and guess what? He just started learning how to use the Internet! That’s no mean feat as my Dad’s 70 this year and is not tech savvy at all. So here’s a note for my Dad to celebrate this achievement :D

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Hi Daddy!
Now that you know how to use the internet, you can check out my website to see what I’m up to :D Yes, I know I should call you more often and I will!
But for times when you miss me, you know where to find me now. And yes, I’ll put up the Vietnam pictures soon. I was thinking of you while backpacking and thought that you would’ve loved it :)
Daddy, I miss you.
I miss having ngau chap breakfast with you in the mornings, I miss driving you nuts by nagging you about driving late at night, I miss being back at home and just knowing that you’re in the same house as me, I miss having someone call to check on me when I shoot till late and I also I miss taking your car out and leaving you stranded in the house (haha! just kidding :p).
I know you worry about me being in KL by myself, but its been soooo many years already. Don’t worry about me, I’m alive and well. Keeping myself busy with a job which I’m absolutely in love with, working out like mad, blessed with friends who make sure I’m alive and just appreciating all the little things in life :)
I’ll be back to bug you in June and Daddy, you gotta start gaining weight so eat more ok? In the meantime, get Fatty to teach you how to use the email function and send me a mail :D
Please take care of yourself. Go for more walks, don’t worry so much and don’t forget, wherever I may be, I think about you all the time and though I don’t say this often enough, I love you. Yes, Fatty and Chun-Chun are the only ones left in KK. Even though Andy and Adam are in Perth and I’m in KL, we miss and love you tons too!
Talk to you soon Hamid. Hehehehe…
Love and hugs,
Your little girl xoxo
  1. Karen says:
    To Anna’s Daddy: Uncle, dun worry, we’ll make sure Anna eats well (as long as she doesnt over-eat), drive to safe places (by the way, she has a destined driver – Gary), takes care of herself, swears less and lives a good, healthy and wonderful life in KL :)
  2. Anna-Rina says:
    Karen: You damn cute laa. I think my Dad is used to my swearing by now. I always accidentally swear in front of him and my Mum. Oops! Hehehehe..
  3. Mike Tee says:
    Hi “Uncle Hamid”, you should know that I’ve appointed Anna as my personal bodyguard and she works out harder than anyone in the gym and packs muscles big enough to scare off any thugs.
  4. Grace Tan says:
    That’s a really sweet post, Anna! It’s nice that you appreciate your dad this way. My mom and dad are over 70 too, time flies so fast.
