My site was nominated for Best Photography Blog!

Welcome to Anna-Rina’s blogsite (yes, it’s a blog AND a website). I’m a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I have had experience covering weddings & portrait sessions not only all over Malaysia but also at overseas locations such as Perth, Singapore, Bali and Krabi. As cliched as this may sound, I feel blessed to have a career that I love with absolute passion as it allows me to meet people from all sorts of background, capturing them at the happiest and most memorable moments of their lives.

This blogsite also serves as a personal journal on my daily (mis)adventures not only as a photographer but as a daughter, friend and workout enthusiast (I’ve even got a separate blog dedicated to tracking my daily workouts. Yes, workout junkie I am >.<)

Do scroll through the above navigation bar to get more details on the photography services that I provide and check out the below blog posts which showcases some of my favourite photos from recent wedding and lifestyle portrait sessions.

Feel free to leave a comment and share some love in this lil’ blogosphere of mine. At least I would know I’m not talking to myself ;) Then again, I do that quite often…..I kid, I kiiid. Have an awesome day ahead and thanks again for dropping by!

So far, so good

I’m aliveeeeeee!

Albeit a bit more quiet on the blogging front than usual. Like the picture below, I’m here but not really here. Gedwadamsayin?

Photos of me in this post are courtesy of Grazzi :D Thanks housie!

There’s actually tons of pictures from recent shoots that I wanna blog about! Especially R&N’s recent wedding and B&M’s maternity session and my own family session and G&D’s portrait session and many, many more! So much so that I wouldn’t know where to start 0.o

Seeing that I have to start somewhere, here’s quick post of some recent travel pictures, pictures I’ve taken on my days off from work, around Perth and Fremantle as well as a roadtrip up north to Jurien Bay and Pinnacles. Loving the fact that I’m actually taking some days off work just to chill out while I’m here :) A good respite during a time when it’s much needed!

There’ll be more travel pictures to come as I’ll be taking a roadtrip down south to Busselton and Margaret River with my bestie after an engagement shoot in Swan Valley next weekend. Can’t wait! For now, there are pictures to be edited and emails to be replied (yes, replying all the emails by tomorrow - do or die!) so I best stop this inane babbling and get back to it ;)

Til the next post, chuga chuga choo choo! x

Edit: Personal travel pictures from this trip will be constantly updated on my Facebook page here, so check it! ;)

The following 3 collages were all shot at Sculptures by the Sea on Cottesloe Beach.

Cam & Kat

It was on a bright and sunny afternoon that I met up with Cam and Kat in South Perth for their engagement session. They had recently gotten engaged and wanted to mark this point of their lives with an engagement portrait session and the weather on the day of their shoot was absolutely lovely! There were many people just chilling out at the foreshore and basking in the sun. Love love shooting in conditions like this. Especially with couples like Cam and Kat who were absolutely accommodating!

Cam and Kat, you two worked it that day! Yes, while it may be true that Cam took awhile to get used to the camera, you were working it after the first few shots. And Kat, you are an absolute natural in front of the lens. No wonder some of your friends tease you about looking like Penelope Cruz! Hope you two had fun during your engagement party and all the best with the preparations for the big day :D wOOt!

Bernard & Michelle

I actually sent Michelle an email a couple of months ago telling her that I was gonna be in Perth for the whole month of March and when I got her reply about having a maternity session, my immediate reaction was ZOMG! Was so happy and excited for her and her husband! They’re gonna have a little kid!

Yes, it will be (what seems like) endless sleepless nights, tons of dirty laundry, smelly diapers to change, cranky baby to take care of BUT that’s all nothing when you’ve got a lil bundle of miracle in your arms. Imagine that, they’re gonna be parents! *skips with joy* wOOt!

Michelle, it was really nice to see you again and I am absolutely serious when I say, woman! You are gonna be one of the cutest momma in town! And Bernard, an absolute pleasure to meet you this time round as well. I must say, I’m greatly impressed that in this modern day and age where not many gentlemen still exist, you open the door for your lady each and every time. Hats off to you!

Thank you so much for having me capture this stage of your life. It really was a pleasure to hang out with you both, during your first pregnancy. I’m actually feeling excited about your firstborn, so I can’t imagine how you two must feel! Multiply my emotions by 10K perhaps? ;p You two take care and here’s to a smooth birth when junior decides to make his/her grand entrance ;) Looking forward to meet the new addition on my next trip to Perth!

We started off the session at Kings Park. Many say the location is overdone but frankly speaking, I think the park’s brilliant and I could shoot there a gazillion times. Ok maybe 10 or so ;)

There was actually a lady reading under this tree when we walked by. I was eyeing her spot the whole time for the light looked lovely at that point in time. Decided to head over and just ask her whether or not I could ‘borrow’ her spot (together with her cushions & blanket!) for a couple of minutes and she was nice enough to say yes :) And that is how we have Mich sitting prettily under a tree with a book in hand ;)

We then headed over to Port Beach in Fremantle where I asked Bernard and Michelle to chill out while I went off for some fish and chips. Nom nommm. JUST KIDDING!

Proof that pregnant women glow. Nuff said ;)

*heart* :D

Rene & Nazilla

Who could ever guess, that ushering in the New Year over dinner with your parents, could mean meeting your soulmate? Well, that’s just what happened with Nazilla and Rene, when Nazilla and her parents had dinner at the Mussel Bar in Fremantle during New Year’s Eve and Nazilla’s brother introduced her to Rene then. A whirlwind romance ensued and within a couple of months, Rene flew to KL to seek Nazilla’s Dad’s permission to marry her.

When Nazilla and Rene shared their story with me, I thought it was absolutely sweet that two individuals from different ends of the world met in what is now their second home. And when I shot their solemnisation ceremony in Mirrabooka Mosque, I thought to myself how lucky I was to be able to partake in such an intimate ceremony.

A day after the ceremony, I spent some time with the newlyweds and we went around Fremantle for some bridal shots. Let me tell you, Nazilla and Rene were a dream to shoot! Not only were they unabashedly in love, they were absolute naturals in front of the camera too :) Here’s a lil’ sampling just to let you see how natural AND gorgeous they are ;)

Nazilla and Rene, thanks again for having me be part of your ceremony :) This may sound super corny, but it’s seeing couples like you two which reinforce my believe that when it comes to marrying your other half, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been dating. You went ahead and followed what your heart said and that’s what I love about you two. Here’s wishing you love, laughter and many hearty moments to come! And ok, I’ll quit asking you two to make beautiful babies pronto ;p

Maria & Christophe

I was pleasantly surprised when Maria and Christophe brought me to a wee lil street in Chinatown that I had never noticed before. Imagine that, I’ve lived in KL for the past 11 years and Maria and Christophe, who are expats, had to show me where a certain street is *shy* ;p Maria liked the heritage buildings and old walls around the area and when I have clients like that, I am over the moon! Derelict buildings, graffiti-ed walls, construction sites - the more un-pretty the location, the more excited I get :D

As her parents were in town for a visit (great timing!) we took some shots with them before walking around the area for some portraits of Maria. It’s not everyday that I have a portrait session where locations are just sussed out as we walk along the area, so this was a nice change from my usual modus operandi ;)

Christophe thanks again for having me shoot the session (and searching Google for me. Yay for technology again!) and Maria, you are an absolute natural in front of the camera. Thanks for trusting me and just going along with all my suggestions. It was great fun! Glad to hear that you two had a great time in Laos and here’s to more public holidays in Malaysia = more travel time ;p Cheers

Ee-Lyn & Aaron

Ee-Lyn actually contacted me early last year and back then, she had wanted to have a portrait session as an anniversary surprise for her boyfriend Aaron. The idea was scrapped when Aaron prepared a BIGGER surprise for their anniversary. And Ee-Lyn wrote back to me and said she’ll look for me the following year instead.

Frankly speaking, whenever people say that to me, I think of it as a nice way of saying “Thanks but we won’t be needing your services” ;p So imagine my surprise when I received an email from her in January, saying that she wanted to have a portrait session done to celebrate her 25th birthday. And like Sally Field in her Oscar acceptance speech, I thought to myself, “…you like me, right now, you like me!” (Yes, I’m full of myself. Its my blog, so that’s perfectly acceptable! ;p)

Thank you Ee-Lyn and Aaron, for hanging out with me on that morning, for having pictures taken ‘just because’, for being yourself :) I hope you like the pictures as much as I enjoyed shooting them for you. Here are some of my faves from that day. Can’t wait to share the rest with you when I return to KL in April :) Til then, take care and enjoy the BB and iPhone ;p
