My site was nominated for Best Photography Blog!

Welcome to Anna-Rina’s blogsite (yes, it’s a blog AND a website). I’m a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I have had experience covering weddings & portrait sessions not only all over Malaysia but also at overseas locations such as Perth, Singapore, Bali and Krabi. As cliched as this may sound, I feel blessed to have a career that I love with absolute passion as it allows me to meet people from all sorts of background, capturing them at the happiest and most memorable moments of their lives.

This blogsite also serves as a personal journal on my daily (mis)adventures not only as a photographer but as a daughter, friend and workout enthusiast (I’ve even got a separate blog dedicated to tracking my daily workouts. Yes, workout junkie I am >.<)

Do scroll through the above navigation bar to get more details on the photography services that I provide and check out the below blog posts which showcases some of my favourite photos from recent wedding and lifestyle portrait sessions.

Feel free to leave a comment and share some love in this lil’ blogosphere of mine. At least I would know I’m not talking to myself ;) Then again, I do that quite often…..I kid, I kiiid. Have an awesome day ahead and thanks again for dropping by!

Risky & Carrie

Seriously speaking, I didn’t know what to expect from this wedding shoot for I had never met Risky and Carrie prior to their wedding reception at Saujana Subang. After all, they were based in London and all we managed were a couple of emails before the day. In situations like these, I get butterflies in my stomach. More than the usual amount of butterflies that is :p

This was to be the 3rd and final leg of their ‘Wedding World Tour’ for they had their registration in London, a huuuuuge Malay reception in Jakarta and finally an intimate wedding reception for their family and close friends in Malaysia. Talk about covering all bases!

Turns out that I had nothing to be nervous about for Carrie and Risky were absolutely wonderful to shoot! It must’ve been all that practise from the first two parts of their weddings which eased them into being in front of the camera ;)

Besides my favourite shots which I’ve shared below, you can also check out a fuller set of pictures on my newly created Facebook page here. Enjoy!

How can a couple NOT be cool when they’ve got such hot shoes on? Am I right or am I right?

They didn’t even have to try. And they already look so hot ;)

Carrie and Risky, your intimate wedding reception was a joy to shoot! Love loved the fact that you had the time to really catch up with your family members and friends throughout the festivities. And you two are absolute naturals in front of the camera, all I had to do was move around and snap away! Crazy I tell you ;) Thank you so much for sharing the evening with me and it was a pleasure to have been a part of it all! Take care in London!

21-15-9 reps for time of:
Barbell thrusters
Pull Ups
Results: 13:26 (25kg)
Last done in September with 30kg and my time was nearly 30 mins. Decided to decrease as I didn’t wanna put too much pressure on my back *excuses*excuses*. Even with only 25kgs, my lower back was feeling the brunt of the thrusters at the second set of this. Great workout!

Nam Kit & Rowena

Nam Kit and Rowena’s wedding was my last one for year 2009. And it was awesome!

People might say that when you have a traditional Chinese wedding, its just the typical tea ceremony and morning games. Well, that’s not true when you’ve got a bunch of absolutely fun people involved ;)

Nam Kit’s ‘band of brothers’ were enthusiastic throughout the crazy and hilarious games devised by Rowena’s “ji mui’s” and let me tell you, their group of friends were great sports and made the morning session super fun!

To top it up, the newlyweds were just laughing throughout the day. It was great to see them having so much fun instead of being nervous about the day. Some of the highlights during their wedding dinner reception in PJ Hilton included a bashful groom serenading his new bride on stage. Kudos to Nam Kit on that!

Thank you Nam Kit and Rowena for the wonderful day! It sure felt like I was at a friend’s wedding (albeit with a bigger camera than a normal point & shoot ;p) and it was a blast to have been part of the festivities. Hope you two had fun during your honeymoon in Phuket!

Rowena’s family’s dog may look small & cute, but her almost endless barking was surprisingly loud!

Yes, 1 of the ‘obstacles’ was that the boys had to belly dance. I think they enjoyed it. Very much :p - images below  by Asyraf Lee who second shot for me that day. Thanks again for your assistance bro!

Sheng Haw & Melissa

Thought the overcast weather was going to spoil this pre-wedding session. But it turned out to be one of THE most fun sessions I’ve had for 2010 sofar.
Thought Haw & Melissa weren’t gonna be up for some of my crazy ideas. But it turned out they were more than eager for it.
Thought that I couldn’t have couples better than the ones I had in 2009. But it turned out that I’m waaaay wrong.

2010, you’re looking mighty fine so far ;)

Even during the preliminary discussion for Melissa and Haw’s pre-wedding session I was already feeling excited. Well, I wouldn’t know whether you would classify this as a pre-wedding OR a lifestyle portrait session, for it was a mixture of both ;) One thing for sure, this was a couple who wanted photos that reflected their fun, crazy personalities. And they specifically said they didn’t wanna overdo it on the lovey dovey stuff. But of course, I still forced them into quite a lot of cheesy poses for that’s how I roll! Cheese rules yo!

On the bright side, I’m not gonna force the cheese down your throat as I’ve limited the number of cheese for this blogpost and decided to share more of the wacky shots :D

Melissa and Haw, you two rocked this session like nobody’s business! Thanks for sharing your story with me - the fact that you two were colleagues for 3(!) years before you started dating and the Toyota story (hehehe…) got me laughing :) Y’know what, the thing I love the most was the fact that it felt like I was hanging out with friends throughout the session. The way that you two make each other laugh all the time and have comfortable silences at certain moments, I can’t explain it but it was sweet to be part of it all. Can’t wait for the big day!

Melissa & Haw wins the award for the coolest jump. Hands down. No, feets up.

Yes, somebody was skipping. Hehe…so cute ;)

Haw’s vintage Toyota was from his grandad’s days. Fo real!

Ohana means family…

And family means no one gets left behind, especially during a family portrait session!

Thanks to the holiday season and the fact that everyone’s back in town for their family reunion, I’ve been shooting quite a lot of family portraits recently. Not that I’m complaining, not at all! It has been absolutely wonderful being part of so many different families lives for just a wee moment and I must say, quite an interesting experience to work with lil kids ;)

Was asked by a friend whether or not I get sick of shooting families day in day out. Heck no! Every single family portrait session feels different for me. Different families have different vibes when they’re together and whilst it is a bit harder than shooting couples, I have fun especially when it comes to families with young kids as it gives me a valid excuse to go all crazy!

The key thing I always always share with my wonderful clients would be - HAVE FUUUUNNN! And I’m happy to say that they do! Most of the time anyway! Despite moments where junior might be abit cranky or another young one might not be feeling too camera friendly, everything just comes together when families relax and work their thang in front my lens!

As Jesh De Rox once said, we should all take not being serious seriously, or something alone those lines. Here are some of my fave shots from recent family portraiture sessions which I’ve been so so lucky to have been part of :)

Thank YOU for sharing a slice of your life with me. Yay!

21 Kettlebell Swings @ 24kg/16kg
15 Push Ups
Results: 9 rounds RX’ed

100 Sit Ups
Results: 3:30

Dec 30, 2009 (Wed)
Ok. So I didn’t do today’s workout which involved DU’s (for me TJ’s). Instead did the following workout from 2008;
In 20mins, complete AMRAP of;
10 goblet squat (20kgs KB)
10 pull ups (CTB)
Results: 8rounds + 8
A decline of 2 rounds compared to what I did last year. I think overloading on my vices last night whacked me out.

100 Sit ups
Results: 3:38
Ooo…my quads were feeling it

Jan 1, 2010 (Fri)
Deck of cards at the park. Didn’t keep count of the push ups, pull ups, sit ups or squats done. But damn, this was a good workout :p

Jan 3, 2010 (Sun)
Warmed up and cooled down with 1 lower loop each time
Cindy: 8 rounds
Did this at the park, great to workout when the weather’s nice outdoors :)

Azmal & Mastura

I don’t usually do this. Y’know, blog about a wedding a couple of hours after the event itself. But seeing that it is after all, the first day of 2010, I just wanted to share this particular set of pictures for the whole shoot was a series of firsts for me.

It was the first time for me to shoot an intimate Malay wedding with less than 80 guests, it was the first time for me to shoot at Villamay, a gorgeous spa in Shah Alam and it was the first time one of my brides wore pants for her wedding day. For real. Underneath her gorgeous sequined top, Mastura was wearing a pair of comfy silk pants with her flat bejewelled sandals. I love brides who are stylishly comfortable!

When I first met Azmal and Mastura a couple of months back, I was immediately smitten by their love for each other. Cheesy I know but that’s how I felt. As they told me their story of how they met thru’ work, how they decided to get married not long after they started dating and how they wanted to have a simple wedding as all they wanted was just to be married to each other, I was really smitten. Call me a romantic at heart, but meeting couples like Azmal and Mastura is suh-weet!

I was flabbergasted when I arrived at Villamay in Shah Alam. An absolutely gorgeous venue for intimate weddings!

Azmal seemed a bit nervous before the ceremony while Mastura put on a good show of being calm & collected ;)

Support, agreement and faith - multiple hands with different stories

Nary a dry eye after the solemnisation ceremony

Brunch do’s are awesome! Azmal & Mastura could enjoy the rest of the day being newlyweds :)

So cute! Swing, swing ;)

Azmal & Mas, yes, I think I’ve repeatedly said this, but thank you again for the pleasure and thank you for sharing the first day of 2010 with me. You two are so chilled out and laid back that it was an absolute breeze to work with you. I love the fact that you chose to have an intimate, meaningful ceremony instead of conforming to the norm. As a matter of fact, many things about you two have pleasantly surprised me. You’re definitely in a league of your own :) Here’s to an uber awesome 2010 ahead!
