I shot Gibran and Sherena’s engagement a couple of months ago so it was a reunion of sorts when I headed over to Sherena’s parents home to cover their solemnisation ceremony. Having familiar and welcoming faces around, family members who were absolutely at ease and a loving couple to boot made my job much easier :)
Gibran and Sherena, thank you for having me be part of the celebrations! It was great being part of the festivities and seeing you two celebrate your union with your family and close friends. Hope you two had tons of fun during your honeymoon in the land Down Under. See you next week!
The group pictures weren’t exactly ‘conventional’ ;)

Its a Johor Bahru tradition to throw coins out to the kids after the blessing ceremony (and this case, the adults too ;p)

Nice work Anna! Being on the other side of the world, it’s good to see my old friend Sherena and some other familiar faces at the wedding via your pictures! :D
(December 8th, 2009, 2:55 am)Thanks so much Tom! Great to hear from you! It was a nice wedding and Gib & Sherena were a blast to shoot :)

Btw, ambur-ambur (coin throwing at end of merenjis) is supposed to be a Johor tradition but it looks to be ‘stronger’ with Muar-ians! At that point in both nights, everybody forgot all about the bride & groom, and instead focused on the fun of the coins! Hehe
