My site was nominated for Best Photography Blog!

Welcome to Anna-Rina’s blogsite (yes, it’s a blog AND a website). I’m a wedding and lifestyle portrait photographer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I have had experience covering weddings & portrait sessions not only all over Malaysia but also at overseas locations such as Perth, Singapore, Bali and Krabi. As cliched as this may sound, I feel blessed to have a career that I love with absolute passion as it allows me to meet people from all sorts of background, capturing them at the happiest and most memorable moments of their lives.

This blogsite also serves as a personal journal on my daily (mis)adventures not only as a photographer but as a daughter, friend and workout enthusiast (I’ve even got a separate blog dedicated to tracking my daily workouts. Yes, workout junkie I am >.<)

Do scroll through the above navigation bar to get more details on the photography services that I provide and check out the below blog posts which showcases some of my favourite photos from recent wedding and lifestyle portrait sessions.

Feel free to leave a comment and share some love in this lil’ blogosphere of mine. At least I would know I’m not talking to myself ;) Then again, I do that quite often…..I kid, I kiiid. Have an awesome day ahead and thanks again for dropping by!

Catching Up

Missed Pushmore for the past 3 days. It’s gonna take awhile for me to catch up 0_o Anyway, managed to squeeze in two workouts this morning. wOOt!

Chelsea
Every minute, on the minute, for 30 minutes, do:
5 Pull Ups
10 Push Ups
15 Squats
Results: 7 rounds, 5 + 10 + 10

100 Double Kettlebell Push Presses @ 24kg/16kg
Results: 16:08 (12kg)

Ok back to work.

Where’re the Monkeys?

Despite telling myself that I shouldn’t be working out or going for a jog due to the mountain of pictures I have to edit, I went for a jog >.< Well, it WAS after editing a few hundred shots and replying (almost!) all my emails so I consider it as a lil reward for being so productive.

Didn’t head for the hills today, instead went to the TTDI park as it was getting dark by the time I left my place. Did counter clockwise of the upper loop, 2km in 12 minutes (in a bout of kiasu-ism, sprinted the last 200metres :p *pats self on back*) then did counter clockwise of the lower loop, slow and easy (more like slow and lazy) 1km in 8:35. I was actually aching by that lower loop but was thinking to myself “wtf come all the way here and just do 2km? No ‘effin way!”

Funnily enough, I didn’t see any monkeys today. Where dem monkeys?

I think this will be my last jogging session before the adidas King of the Road event in Shah Alam this Sunday. I’m not participating in the half marathon, only the 11km category. Hehe…even then, I’m feeling abit apprehensive. But I hope to achieve my PR. Well, at the rate that I’ve been jogging, anything less than 1hour would be considered PR for me :p FTW!

Shoulders still feeling the DOMS from Tuesday’s workout. Man, JT and Fran really bitchslapped me this round. Shouldn’t have done them both together. Okay that sounded wrong -____-” but fellow Crossfitters would get what I’m saying.

New Music in My Playlist. Boo-yah!

Woke up with sore shoulders, upper back and triceps thanks to yesterdays combo of JT and Fran workout. Shouldn’t have done Fran after JT since they were both shoulder workouts. Oh well, whats done is done.

Due to the DOMS, decided to take it easy and went running instead (okay, okay more like jogging / brisk walking :p) earlier this evening at TTDI. Headed to the tar road trail otherwise known as “Hills of Death” for its steep seemingly endless hills for the first time ages. Took my sweet time and did approx 5km in 40mins. FML -____-”

Then I headed to the TTDI Park and did approx 2km in 12:35 and once I was done with that, did 3 sets of 10 chin-ups, 10 push ups and 10 squats. Could do straight reps of 10 chin-ups for the first two sets but at the last set, my shoulders were feeling it and I broke it down to 4, 3, 3. Push ups and squats a-ok.

Updated my playlist with new songs from BEP’s The E.N.D and some old tracks from Fatboy Slim, Fischerspooner and Ting-Tings. I think the music motivated me to run more than my usual training of 3km :p Gonna do another run before the adidas King of the Road event this Sunday at Shah Alam. Aiming for a PR this time round!

A concern I have with all this running/jogging is the risk of losing my muscle mass 0_o Gotta look into this and see how I can improve in running AND maintain the muscles. Yes, I want it all :p

Hsu Jen & David: Portraits

Elevyn and Tongue in Chic recently had an online contest for TiC readers and one of the prizes was a portrait session with yours truly. Ok that sounded abit self-congratulatory, but I don’t know how else to phrase it :p There were two winners from the contest and just last week, we had the portrait session for one of the winners, Hsu Jen. As for the other winner Eudora, we’ll be having that session next week when I head over to Kota Kinabalu. wOOt!

Anyway, back to last weeks portrait session. Hsu Jen decided to bring along her boyfriend David for the session and funnily enough, I actually met David just two weeks ago during a photographers mini-gathering! Is KL small or what? From the second I picked Hsu Jen and David up from the Curve, I knew the shoot was gonna be awesome. They were cracking jokes and just laughing throughout the session and I LOVE it whenever this happens during my sessions. It doesn’t matter if you’re laughing WITH me or if you’re laughing AT me, as long as you’re having fun, hey I’m having fun!

Hsu Jen and David were absolutely cool with me dragging them to some random and not-so random spots and I appreciate the trust. I could’ve been some drug addict and sold you two off to a brothel to fund my drug addiction, but you two just came into my car and off we went. FTW! Jen, I LOVE the fact that you wore bright colored tops for the session (yes, it does make a difference!) and you made me feel like I’ve known you forever! And David, you are an absolutely hilarious guy. Thanks for letting me bully you two around. Heheheeh….

Ok ok, I better stop raving about these two kiddos and move on to my favourite shots from the session ;)

David and Jen does Zoolander :p

Here’s a ‘behind the scenes’ capture by David, taken from Hsu Jen’s blog ;) Danke schon!

JT & Fran

After watching a couple of Crossfit videos over the weekend, I was all hyped up about doing the workouts. Turns out that my physical strength didn’t match my gungho-ness. Epic fail -_______-”

J.T
21-15-9 reps for time of:
Handstand Push Ups
Ring Dips
Push Ups
Results: 12:39
The last time I did this workout was March 30, more than 3 months ago and my previous time was 10:12 which is better by 2 minutes. FML >.<

Fran
Results: 18:42
Had approximately 10 mins break after JT before I did Fran. My previous time was 12:39. Urgh. Realised I should’ve kept Fran for another day only after I was about to complete the first round of Fran. Double urgh.

WOD072509 & Men’s Health/Shape Night Run ‘09

Three rounds for time of:
50 Sumo Deadlift Highpull @ 20kg
40 Squats
30 Leg Raises
20 Push Ups
Results: 22:16
Headed to Pushmore after having a light breakfast with Eon and Intan. It was a good thing I didn’t push myself too hard with this wod, otherwise they would’ve been able to see what I had for breakfast. Good workout, the only thing which slowed me down was the SDHP -_______-”. Now I ‘ve just gotta wait and see whether or not it affects tonights run >.<

After a hearty late lunch/early dinner, headed off to Putrajaya with fellow Pushmore members where some of us participated in the Fun Run (only 5km *shy*) and a few participated in the 10km category. We arrived there slightly before 7pm and were greeted with ample parking spots at the open car park area right next to the starting point. How convenient!

The run itself was fun! Maybe cos I only participated in the 5km Fun Run Category :p Was grinning to myself the whole time and thinking “Muahahahaha! No need to run 10km and suffer! Muahaahahah!”. It was so nice that I took my own sweet time and carried Karen’s point & shoot with me to take photos throughout the run. Below are some pics of the event from Karen’s camera. Thanks Karen!

With the Pushmore chicks ;p

Some of the Pushmore peeps who participated in the 10km category

The starting point
As we had time to kill before the Fun Run category begun, Karen, Eddie, Andrew and Ye Kar did some squats as warm up. As for me, I was still trying to digest the tiramisu I had before the run 0_o
Run run run! So nice to run at night :D

We cam-whored after the run. Yes we camwhore ALOT. I like this shot of tai kor Eddie & myself shot by Karen, TQ! So symmetrical horr?
Edit: I just realised my head is between Eddie’s nipples. What the? :p

Group shot of the Pushmore peeps who participated in the event. Nice seeing familiar faces there :D

Thanks Eric and Kenneth for the invite :D Overall I think the run was well organised (compared to the recent one i attended!). It wasn’t too crowded and they had a lot of sponsors booths as well as activities going on. Friends who participated in the 10km category said that there were at least FOUR drinking stations. Which is ALOT for a run of that length. Reckon its great that they had that many drinking stations and sufficient liquids for everyone instead of not having enough. As for the route, it was quite flat throughout the whole course. Well, that’s not saying much since I only did 5km. Hehe…

My time? A leisurely 35 minutes, well approximately anyway. Which is cool by me cos I think my average is about 7 mins per km so okay lah :p Luckily I had my knee support on as my right knees been feeling wonky for the past couple of weeks :( I need to go check it first before next Sunday’s King of The Road event. Hope its nothing serious!

Edit: Note to self - cut toenails before running event >.< I think its my shoes (or perhaps how my toes scrunch together whenever I run), but the third right toe scrapes against the second right toe and this has happened for the last two runs. Eeeks!

Swim!

Swam approx 500 metres at the apartment pool (20 laps, 25 metres per lap). Fun!

KA + CE’s Family Portraits

The morning was overcast and it looked like it was about to rain as I battled the morning traffic and headed to Chin Ee’s home. Luckily for me, the rain clouds shifted away when I arrived at her home. So yay for great weather!

That day was the first time I met Chin Ee and her husband Kuo Aun together with their daughter Rou Rou and 7-month old baby Hou Hou (whose outfit matched his Daddy’s! So cute :D). I had only corresponded with her via email prior to that and it was great to finally meet the family in person! We started off with some pictures at their home and then headed down to the playground area so that Rou Rou could run around and play on the swings as well. I think all the adults got quite a workout from chasing her around and coaxing her to stay still for a family portrait. It was all good fun and I’m happy to share some of my favourite shots from the session here.

Chin Ee, thanks again for the pleasure of capturing these pictures of you and your family. The only thing is, I still can’t decide which one to suggest for your canvas print 0_o Hehehe…see you soon!

WOD072209

In 15 minutes, do as many rounds as possible of:
10 Handstand Push Ups
15 Goblet squats@ 20kg / 45lbs
Results: 7 rounds
My oh my. My biceps are soooo gonna feel it tomorrow cos of the way the kettlebell was held during the goblet squats. I’m still doing ‘meowww’ HSPU, need to train harder so that I can go lower during the workouts >.< Grrrr...good workout though :D

Three Round of
10 Barbell Deadlift 105lbs
10 Chin Ups
Results: 7:25
Had intended to do 5 rounds initially. After the second round, I figured it was best not to push myself too hard (background voice, “Lazy say lazy laaa :p”)

Raja & Malar - Wedding

Thanks to Greg of Significantz Touch, I recently had the pleasure of working with his videography team in capturing Raja and Malar’s wedding. You can check out the same day edit highlights of Raja and Malar’s wedding day on Greg’s blog here.

We started off the day before the crack of dawn, shooting Malar’s preparation at her parents home in Kelana Jaya. You could tell Malar was nervous, this was the day of her wedding and 1,001 thoughts must’ve been running through her mind at that time. But as soon as she reached the temple and saw Raja sitting on stage, she gave him a smile and it was evident that she knew that with him around, there was nothing to worry about.

Though I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Raja and Malar before the day of their wedding, upon meeting them, it could be seen that this marriage started on love and will continue to grow on that solid foundation. As Raja himself said, Malar is heaven sent ;)

Raja and Malar, may the years ahead be filled with love, mutual understanding and happiness for you two. I hope you like the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them for you. Here are some of my faves.
